The first week of April means spring break for East Baton Rouge Parish Public School students. But for City Year Baton Rouge, the work has just begun. Corps members and staff are coming together to better the schools we work in and the community we serve. Today, we entered Buccaneer territory at Broadmoor Middle School and worked hard to clean up the outdoor learning environments, and add some color to the walls and benches around the school.

While our corps and staff might be reminiscing about their own Spring Break adventures throughout their school years, they are pleased to know that their service this week will help students return to school to a warm, welcoming, fresh environment.

Team Leader Phillip Spotswood and corps member Ajita Harrison work on expanding the outdoor learning environment.

Second year corps member Erin Olds and first year corps members Cassidy Bowers and Joanna Sonaike paint the student path.

Impact Managers Cherie Cancio and Mark Pollard clean up excess brush in the courtyard.

First year corps member Emily Hinshaw puts the finishing touches on a bench.
