I am humble knowing that I am a guest in the community I serve. I am long term company in that I am booked for the year, but the fact that so many amazing, caring, and qualified adults have really put in their 10,000 hours in gaining respect with Higginson-Lewis students, faculty, staff, and community makes me very humbled to share a space with them.
Boston Public Schools under Superintendent Doctor Tommy Chang celebrates the "Culture of We”. What this means is that collaboration is the focal point to help our students achieve high standards. The Higginson-Lewis K-8 School in particular has adopted “The Culture of We” to celebrate our own core values and investment in our students' future development. The fact that I, as an individual, am just one small part of the mosaic that are the caring adults in these students' lives makes me feel valued and that I have purpose. At the same time, it is extremely humbling that the foundation for student support and success was already so sound before I ever came to serve. I happily and humbly serve every day because Boston’s young people are brimming with potential; I am just there to supply that extra boost!
