All-Corps Service Day at Miguel Contreras Learning Complex

On Saturday, August 26th, City Year L.A. AmeriCorps members and staff joined students and school leaders for the first all-corps service day of the new school year at one of the newest member of our family: Miguel Contreras Learning Complex!

Six hours and 26 projects later, corps and staff, accompanied by Miguel Contreras Learning Complex students, transformed the campus to help promote school spirit and create a welcoming space for student success.

An extension of in-class support, service days strive to show the students of Los Angeles Unified School District just how invested the community is in promoting their academic growth and achievement.

Preparing the Leaders of Tomorrow: City Year L.A. & Bank of America

One of City Year’s core principals is the belief that national service is an experience that has the ability to provide a dual benefit: it helps students with the highest needs reach their fullest potential, and it develops AmeriCorps members into civic-minded leaders of tomorrow. Bank of America, one of CYLA's longest-standing partners, recently announced a $25,000 grant in support of leadership training for AmeriCorps members.
