City Year Washington, DC is proud to honor Jim Cicconi, Senior Executive Vice President-External and Legislative Affairs at AT&T, Inc., with the Lifetime of Idealism Award.
Jim is responsible for AT&T’s public policy organization and is chair of the AT&T Foundation.
Prior to AT&T, Jim was a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP. Jim also served in the White House under two presidents, including two years as Deputy Chief of Staff to President George H.W. Bush, and four years as a Special Assistant to President Ronald Reagan and to White House Chief of Staff James A. Baker, III. Jim’s current volunteer activities include serving as a member of the University of Texas at Austin Development Board and the Advisory Committee on the Presidential Library – Foundation Partnerships. In addition, Jim serves as vice president of the George Bush Presidential Library Foundation. Jim’s lifelong commitment to service aligns with City Year’s mission of inspiring young people to do a year of service.
Under Jim’s leadership, AT&T has increased educational opportunities for under-served students across the country. AT&T is a proud National Leadership Sponsor of City Year, which includes an investment in City Year’s work in Washington, DC. Thanks to AT&T, City Year AmeriCorps members are working every day with more than 5,600 DC public school students, helping them to stay in-school and on-track to graduate.
